Loan Requirements

Contingencies often come up at the worst possible financial moment. That’s why Need Money Now is here, with short-term loans that help you navigate life’s little surprises.

Need Money Now offers loans of between $100 and $1000. You can get a loan with us, even if your credit isn’t up to par.

At Need Money Now, we loan to people who are permanently employed and earn over $400 net, per week. Income does not include benefits, monies derived from self-employment, pensions, or disability benefits.

Do I Qualify

The following criteria must be met to qualify for a Zebra Loan:

  • Must be over the age of 18
  • Must live in New Zealand
  • Must be earning a minimum of $400 per week, net
  • Must be permanently employed
  • Must have an active bank account (for one pay cycle, minimum)
  • Must be paid by regular electronic transfer to your bank account
  • Must have access to a computer
  • Must have an active email address to communicate with Need Money Now
  • Must have a mobile phone for text communication with Need Money Now and to receive our verification code in order to complete your application
  • Must complete our online application

Identification accepted

First time users of our short-term loan service will be asked to provide an approved form of official identification, as follows:

IMPORTANT: Those using a New Zealand driver’s license can enter your details on the online application. For this purpose, please include the Driver’s License Number (5a) and the Version Number (5b).

If you don’t have a driver’s license, one of the following types of identification will be accepted:

  • New Zealand passport – we will accept passports which have expired within the past 2 years. We can’t accept defaced, mutilated or cancelled documents.
  • Passport from another country (current only)
  • New Zealand Refugee Travel Document
  • New Zealand Emergency Travel Document
  • New Zealand Firearms License


All documents (save the New Zealand driver’s license) may be sent to us via email at [email protected], quoting your application number in the subject line of the email.

Supplementary Identification

Together with you photo identification listed above, we require a supplementary, non-photo identification document and a secondary photo identification document, as follows:

  • New Zealand Full Birth Certificate
  • Foreign Citizenship Certificate
  • Foreign Birth Certificate

Secondary photo identification:

  • International Driving Permit
  • HANZ 18+ Card
  • New Zealand Educational Institute-issued ID – only locally issued cards from our region will be accepted.

Need Money Now is a responsible lender. So, if you’re in debt, we counsel you to explore alternatives for meeting your financial obligations and to pay off monies owed.
